In my work I investigate the relationship between body language, human behaviour, architecture and photographic images. My work moves between observation and instruction. Inspired by everyday behaviour and gestures, body language and its modes of organisation, I observe how people relate to and approach objects, spaces and other people. Through installation, performative settings and the use of photography, I aim to create situations where the visitor gradually experience themselves as a perceiving or acting personae, in a stage setting made for and by them. Fascinated by how we communicate with each other and our surroundings, and also the lack of true communication, I explore behavioural response; how the body behaves and performs under different circumstances. I see distinct parallels between my work and choreography, on moments where the set up of my work negotiates the movements of the viewer. The focal point of my research is the relationship between body language and human relations, and how they relate to wider social conventions and power structures. I look at these areas in relation to the fields of architecture, choreography and art, all of which relate closely to the body.
